Russ Bryan (digitalsatori)

Russ is a father and husband, runner and geek, philosopher and skeptic.  I’ve been trying to simplify my life and gain a further sense of self.  I had tried using a blog to help me vent the pressures of everyday life and prevent me from running off and meditating in a cave for a few years.  However, I was never satisfied with my writings when it was forced and many of my posts never saw the light of day.

I started running regularly in December 2008, just before my daughter was born.  Thanks to the Couch-to-5k training plan and motivation from the wonderful community at dailymile, I’ve run two 5ks and I am training for a marathon.  My goal is to run the Walt Disney World Marathon in 2010 or 2011, depending on other aspects of life.  You can follow my training on dailymile.

I am a big fan of computers and technology. I am currently running #! Crunchbang Linux on my laptop and Windows 7 RC on my desktop.  I have been following the Linux movement for a while, but was never comfortable enough to make the switch.  After finding Crunchbang, which uses the Openbox WM, I am happy to say that I am running linux on my laptop full time.  I am also currently running the Windows 7 RC on my main computer, which has been quite impressive.  The advancement of both Windows and Linux in the last few years has been quite impressive.  You can usually find me on irc on #crunchbang or at the Crunchbang forums.

I am also a lover of wisdom. I study philosophy and religion, as well as logic and debate. Nothing thrills me more than to sit around with a group of close friends and debate.  Whether we discuss Obama, Nietzsche, or whether or not Socrates would have been accepted as an enlightened mind in today’s society, nothing engages me more than hearing about why people think the way they do.
